February 1861; that his effects were legally taken possession of and sold, and the proceeds amounting to $313.30 were remitted (£65-6-3 I presume) received by M. W. H. Alexander, Victoria, Hong Kong, as official administrator to the Estate and effects of the deceased, conform to receipt dated 27th of June 1864; that the deceased was illegitimate; that he was never married and died intestate; that his father, Major Mr. Thie, resided at Largs, a village on the River Clyde, and died many years ago; that his Mother's name was McLaren, and she died in Edinburgh while he was a child; that his parents had another Child, a daughter named Ettany; she was called by the father's name, McThie, whilst her brother took the Mother's name, McLaren; that Mary McLaren was brought up with Mrs. Main, residing in Shore Street, Gourock, and was married in her house in Glasgow to the petitioner, Charles Park, and became the Mother of his Children above mentioned, and died in Glasgow in the month of February 1861; that she was the only known relative of the deceased George McLaren.
There is produced with the application a declaration made before a Magistrate by Mrs. Margaret Leitch or Mann, the person alluded to, from which it appears that she was well acquainted with the deceased George
